Prof. James Akazili

Prof. James Akazili is an Associate Professor of Health Economics and the Dean of the School of Public Health of the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Science. Prior to taking up the teaching appointment at the University, Prof. Akazili was a Deputy Director at the Researchand Development Division of the Ghana Health Service. He was also a senior research fellow at the Navrongo Health Research Centre for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics and Diploma in EducaLon from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
He obtained his Masters and PhD in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He also completed one year postdoc fellowship at the University of Michigan, USA and a postgraduate certificate in health care financing at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Prof Akazili has consulted for WHO Afro, WHO Geneva, USAID, Health policy alliance etc. With over 20 years of
health research experience, he has led several longitudinal and cross-secLonal surveys on topics related to health systems impact, reproducLve health services, and maternal and child health studies. He has directed research on Ghana’s Health Care Financing. With an H-index of 30, Prof. Akazili has over 50 publicaLons in peer reviewed journals with over 3,600 citations.
